From our earliest records, we know that a small group of Christians commenced the work being carried out from Coleford Gospel Hall in the early 1920s.  The meetings took place first of all in the corrugated iron hut on Highbury Cross, Highbury, Coleford and from January 1984 in the present premises just across the road. The spiritual leadership and pastoral care of the church is the responsibility of the elders. Still, every member is considered of equal importance and is encouraged to take an active part in the life of the church. We encourage each other to live out our faith every day, at work and home, not just on Sundays. We welcome all new faces and continually seek to make new contacts in the district. We are always willing to provide spiritual help and advice and are happy to hear from you at any time. If you wish us to call and see you, please contacts us, and arrangements will be made for a visit as soon as possible.

Statement of Faith

God

There is one God, eternally existing in three persons – The Father, The Son and Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14).

God is sovereign in creation, redemption and judgement (Genesis 1:1 & Ephesians 1:7).

Jesus

Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary and led an impeccable and sinless life (Luke 1:35, Hebrews 4:15).

The Lord Jesus Christ conquered death when He rose from the dead and will return for His church and subsequently will reign in righteousness on the earth (1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 & Revelation 20:6).

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit alone makes the work of Christ effective to individual sinners, enabling them to turn to God from their sin and by faith, trust in Him as Saviour and Lord (John 16:8-14).

The Bible

The Holy Bible is God's living and inspired word through which we can discover Him. It is central to all we believe and do as a church (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Humankind

The whole of humankind is sinful by nature, guilty and subject to God's wrath and condemnation (Romans 3:23).Sinful human beings can be saved from the guilt, penalty and power of sin, only by grace through the sacrificial death and shed blood of God's provided substitute - the Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9).

History

The Start

The assembly was started by Harry Beer who purchased a corrugated steel building from the Devizes army camp and erected it on a piece of land he had purchased at Highbury cross probably late 1919 or early 1920.
